Crash into Norwich river leads to DUI #2, warrant charges

NORWICH — A 30-year-old man from Fairlee was arrested on a warrant following a crash in Norwich on Christmas Day.

The single-vehicle crash into the river took place on River Road at around 12:25 p.m.

Police say that Cody Hardy was operating a 2011 Ford Focus when he went off the road and crashed into the water.

During the course of the investigation, police say that Hardy operated the vehicle while under the influence of drugs.

He was processed at the Hartford Police Department.

Following an investigation, police say that Hardy had an outstanding instate active warrant.

He was also arrested for driving without the owner’s consent.

He was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield, with a criminal citation.

He was also scheduled to appear in court on February 7 to answer the charges of DUI #2 drugs and aggravated operation without consent of owner.
