DERBY — A 54-year-old woman was arrested for DUI in Derby yesterday.
Authorities say they were notified by a local wrecker company that they were within inches of being struck by a passing truck as they were assisting another motorist on US Route 5 at around 9:05 p.m.
A truck description and direction of travel was provided.
Police located a truck matching the description in the immediate area and initiated a traffic stop.
The driver was identified as Darlene Lawrence, of Derby.
Police say Lawrence displayed signs and indicators of impairment and was placed into custody for suspicion of DUI.
She was transported to the Derby barracks where she was processed and released with a citation to appear at a later date.
