SHAFTSBURY — A 31-year-old man is facing charges following a shooting incident in Shaftsbury on Friday.
Authorities were notified that two people had been shot at in the area of Erich Road at around 7:50 p.m.
Police say several calls were received from local residents that two people had shown up at their homes seeking shelter from the assailant.
Police arrived in the area and attempted to locate the subjects involved.
They were soon located and taken into custody for protection.
The alleged shooter was identified as Gerardo Zelaya Granados, of Shaftsbury.
Granados allegedly shot into the air and the ground, not directly at the victims and never made any threats toward them, police say.
Police say he was potentially impaired by drugs or alcohol or both and that he was in an altered state.
Police are still investigating this incident.
