Man arrested in Newport Center

NEWPORT CENTER — A 38-year-old man was arrested in Newport Center yesterday.

Authorities were notified of an individual causing a disturbance at a store on Vermont Route 105 at around 4:50 p.m.

Following an investigation, police identified the suspect as Gary Camley, of Newport Center.

Police say Camley appeared to be impaired, and witnesses told police that they saw Camley driving his vehicle to the store.

He was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, driving with a criminally suspended license, disorderly conduct, and a violation of conditions of release.

He was processed at the Derby barracks and issued a citation to appear in court on January 24.

He was screened as an incapacitated individual and held at the Northern State Correctional Facility for detox.
