Man busted with crack, psychedelic mushrooms in Newbury

NEWBURY — A 41-year-old man was arrested following an incident in Newbury on Tuesday.

Police say they observed a vehicle make motor vehicle violations on I-91 north and Route 302 at around 6:30 p.m.

Prior to a traffic stop being conducted, the vehicle pulled into a driveway on Route 302.

Police say the residents were in the driveway at the time and expressed to state police they did not know the operator or vehicle.

Police made contact with the driver, identified as Elliot Barden Jr., of Temple, ME.

Following an investigation, it was found that Barden Jr. was in possession of felony quantities of crack cocaine, cannabis, and psychedelic mushrooms.

He was taken into custody and transported to the St. Johnsbury State Police barracks where he was processed prior to being lodged at Northeast Regional Correctional Facility.
