RUTLAND — Police have recovered a bicycle that was stolen in Rutland earlier this month.
On October 11, authorities were notified of a stolen bicycle from in front of Walmart.
The 14-year-old bike owner told police that she had just gotten the bicycle and needed to use it to get to school work.
Police say they were able to locate video surveillance which showed Tiffany Covey, 31 of Rutland, stealing the bicycle from in front of Walmart.
Police had been trying to find Covey since the incident.
Typically, stolen bicycles are hard for police to recover because they change hands, their appearance is altered, or they get damaged and then get discarded.
Recovering bicycles in the same condition as when they are stolen is even harder, police say.
On Tuesday, while police were on routine patrol, they located Randy Klinger, 37 of Rutland, riding the bicycle.
Police say they stopped and arrested Klinger and recovered the stolen bicycle.
The bicycle appeared to not have any major damage sustained during the two weeks it was stolen.
The bicycle was returned to the owner.
Police say if anyone knows where Tiffany Covey can be located, they should call 802-773-1816.
