GEORGIA — A 22-year-old man from St. Albans is facing charges following an incident in Georgia on Tuesday.
Police say they were conducting speed enforcement on I-89 at around 7:50 p.m.
Troopers observed a white Subaru WRX traveling at a speed of 101 miles-per-hour via radar.
Troopers attempted to catch up to the Subaru but visually observed the vehicle to be accelerating faster.
Police say it took approximately 6 miles for troopers to catch up to the Subaru before it exited the Interstate at exit 17.
Once the Subaru was finally located on the off-ramp of exit 17, emergency lights were activated to initiate a traffic stop.
Police say the vehicle ultimately stopped on Route 2 in Colchester after traveling at speeds in excess of 130 miles-per-hour.
The driver was identified as Tyler Mcdonald.
Mcdonald was issued a citation to appear in court for the offenses of attempting to elude, negligent operation, and excessive speed.
