MONTPELIER — Detective Sergeant Wade Cochran, after many years of service to the Montpelier community, has been tapped to lead the Norwich Police Department as its new Chief of Police.

Wade joined MPD in 2006 as a police officer, after serving the communities of Hardwick and Barre City, and has risen through the ranks as a Patrol Sergeant and Detective Sergeant.

He has served as a first-line supervisor, a member of the Vermont Drug Task Force, and a Task Force Officer with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, conducting complex and vital investigations into drug trafficking and violent crime.

“Wade’s valuable experience, quick wit, and supportive, mentoring personality will be sorely missed by his MPD family and our community,” the department said in a statement.
