RUTLAND — A 51-year-old man was arrested in Rutland yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a retail theft complaint from the Walmart on Shopping Plaza Road, at around 9:40 p.m.

Police say the complainant witnessed a man leaving through the back door of Walmart with a cart full of merchandise.

The caller told police that the man had set off the door alarm and was running down the bike path.

Officers responded to the area and located Dean Hugerth, of Rutland.

Walmart confirmed that he was involved in the retail theft, as well as having an active order against trespass for the store.

Police confirmed Hugerth has court-ordered conditions of release to not enter Walmart in Rutland.

He was taken into custody for processing and released on a citation for the charges of retail theft, unlawful trespass, and violation of conditions of release.
