POWNAL — A 53-year-old man from St. Albans was injured during a crash in Pownal yesterday.
The single-vehicle crash took place on U.S. Route 7, near Jackson Cross Road, at around 2:00 a.m.
It was reported that a vehicle went off the road and hit a power pole.
The driver, identified as Arthur Jones, told police he was traveling south on U.S. Route 7 and that he had fallen asleep.
Police say the vehicle crossed the center line, went off the road, and collided with a power pole.
Jones sustained minor chest pain from wearing his seatbelt.
Due to the damage to the vehicle, Southern Vermont Auto removed the vehicle from the scene.
Green Mountain Power also responded to the scene to assist with the crash.
State police were assisted by the Pownal Fire Department, Pownal Rescue Squad, Green Mountain Power, and Southern Vermont Auto.
