Vehicle crashes into Mettawee River in Rupert

RUPERT — A 37-year-old woman from Londonderry was involved in a single-vehicle crash in Rupert on Tuesday.

The crash took place on Vermont Route 30 at around 12:00 p.m.

The crashed vehicle was reported to be in the Mettawee River.

According to the report, the driver, Kara Corlew, was traveling south before leaving the travel portion of the road.

Police say she drove outside the white fog line and continued straight through the embankment.

The vehicle went airborne into the river.

Police say Corlew was wearing her seatbelt, which protected her from sustaining injuries.

Vermont State Police were assisted by the Rupert Fire Department and Paul’s Towing Service.
