Police: Reckless driving charges after trooper almost hit head-on in Sheldon

SHELDON — A 60-year-old woman from Enosburgh Falls was cited for negligent operation following an incident in Sheldon yesterday.

Police say they were traveling east on Route 105 near the Abbey when a VSP trooper was nearly struck by a vehicle head-on.

The trooper managed to avoid the collision.

The vehicle was reportedly passing unsafely around a corner as well as speeding.

The vehicle was immediately stopped and the driver was identified as Tammie Day.

Day was issued a citation to appear in court for the offense of negligent operation.

Police say Route 105 has continued to be a problem area for speed resulting in numerous crashes and operators are cautioned to abide by the posted speed limits and obey all traffic laws.
