Multi-vehicle crash with injuries on I-89 in Richmond

RICHMOND — Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that took place in Richmond yesterday.

The crash occurred on I-89 at around 11:45 a.m.

Police say that traffic on the interstate had begun to slow as the interstate was reduced to one lane due to an ongoing construction project in the area.

Dale Delorme, 65, of Colchester, was found to have had a mechanical failure with its brakes.

As a result, he was unable to slow down for the traffic in front of him resulting in several vehicles being struck.

Several individuals involved in the collision were transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center for injuries.

The southbound side of the interstate was closed for approximately two hours while crews worked to clear debris from the road.

State Police was assisted on the scene by the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles, Williston Police Department, Williston Fire & Rescue, Richmond Fire Department, Richmond Rescue, Bolton Fire Department, Essex Rescue, Rick’s Towing, and E & S Auto.
