NEWPORT CENTER — A 43-year-old man is facing charges following a single-vehicle crash in Newport Center yesterday.
The crash took place on Number 12 Road at around 7:45 p.m.
Police say a witness on the scene reported the driver was unconscious.
The driver was identified as Jason Sargent, of Newport Center.
Police say that Sargent was traveling north on Number 12 Road when he lost control of his vehicle around a slight right-hand corner and traveled off the traveled portion of the road.
The vehicle then hit a mailbox and a dirt embankment.
Sargent was transported by Newport Ambulance to North Country Hospital.
Newport Center Fire Department and Greniers Towing also responded to the scene to assist.
At the hospital, Sargent was processed for DUI.
He was issued a citation for the offenses of DUI and negligent operation.
