VSP cruiser involved in single-vehicle crash in Shaftsbury

SHAFTSBURY — A VSP trooper was involved in a single-vehicle crash in Shaftsbury yesterday.

The State Police cruiser was being driven by Trooper Ryan Criss.

The crash took place on U.S. Route 7 at around 4:30 p.m.

According to the report, Criss was traveling north when his vehicle began to hydroplane.

Police say Criss made attempts to correct but the vehicle went off the east shoulder of the road and hit a guardrail.

During the time of the crash, it was heavy rain and the road surface was wet with standing water.

Police say Criss was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and no injuries were reported.
