UPS truck crashes, catches fire in Waterbury

WATERBURY — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in Waterbury on Friday.

The crash took place near East Wind Drive at around 8:00 p.m.

Thomas Martin, 36 of Barre, was driving a UPS box truck that lost braking ability.

The UPS truck struck the rear end of a Toyota Tacoma driven by Philippe Ducas, 67 of Waterbury.

After the crash, the UPS truck caught fire and caused a significant hazard.

Waterbury Stowe Road was closed for a period of time while the Waterbury Fire Department made the scene safe.
