WEYBRIDGE — A 72-year-old man from Bridport was arrested for DUI following an incident in Weybridge yesterday.
Authorities say they were notified of an impaired driver stopping in the roadway of Morgan Horse Farm Road at around 3:05 p.m.
Police say they located the vehicle parked on the road and identified the driver as John Moriarty.
According to the report, Moriarty had operated the vehicle on a public highway and collided with a boulder as well as a utility box in the area, causing damage to the vehicle as well as the utility box.
While speaking with Moriarty, police say they detected indicators of impairment.
He was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and transported to the New Haven barracks for processing.
At the conclusion of processing, Moriarty was released to a sober party with a citation to appear in court on August 1.
State Police was assisted by Middlebury Regional EMS at the scene.
