Another trucker blames Google Maps for getting stuck in Smuggler’s Notch

CAMBRIDGE — A truck driver was issued a hefty fine after getting his vehicle stuck on a steep and curvy roadway notorious for snagging CMVs yesterday.

Authorities were notified of a tractor-trailer stuck in Smuggler’s Notch in the area of Vermont Route 108 at around 8:30 p.m.

The truck was stuck in the sharp curve located near the top of Smuggler’s Notch.

The driver was identified as Antonio Baldomero, of Miami, FL.

Baldomero told police that he observed several warning signs prohibiting tractor-trailers from traveling through the notch but continued to follow his Google Maps.

He was issued fines totaling $3,544.

Vermont Route 108 was closed for several hours until the tractor-trailer could be removed from the road.

State Police was assisted on the scene by the Stowe Police Department, Department of Motor Vehicles, and McRaes Towing.
