Man seriously injures hand setting off fireworks in Westminster

WESTMINSTER — Police say a man was seriously injured while lighting off fireworks in Westminster on Saturday.

Authorities responded to a home on Davidson Hill Road to assist Golden Cross Ambulance and Westminster Fire Department with reports that a man had injured himself around 9:40 p.m.

The man was transported to Springfield Emergency Department with a significant injury to his hand.

State police issued a statement reminding citizens that fireworks in the State of Vermont are illegal without a permit.

Police will be out in full force this holiday weekend, ensuring people celebrating Independence Day follow the law.

They recommend leaving the fireworks to the professionals and enjoying your holiday weekend safely and responsibly.
