BARRE — A 29-year-old man from St. Johnsbury was arrested for his second DUI following an incident in Barre early this morning.

Police say they initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle following an observed motor vehicle violation on North Main Street at around 12:30 a.m.

The driver was identified as Barry Weigel.

While speaking with Weigel, police allege indicators of impairment were detected.

An investigation led to Weigel being taken into custody for suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, police say.

Weigel was transported to the Vermont State Police Berlin barracks without incident where he was processed for DUI.

He was issued a citation to appear in court on July 14 and released.
