DUI crash snaps utility pole in Derby

DERBY — A 39-year-old man from Brighton was arrested for DUI following a crash in Derby early this morning.

The single-vehicle crash took place on West Street at around 1:45 a.m.

Police say a vehicle traveling on West Street went off the road and hit a utility pole.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Todd Evans.

Police say Evans reported he was not injured as a result of the crash.

The utility pole was snapped in half and Vermont Electric Coop and Derby Fire responded to assist.

While on-scene, Evans allegedly displayed signs and indicators of impairment.

Following an investigation, he was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.

He was transported to the Derby barracks for processing and was later released with a citation.
