SPRINGFIELD — Police say a 32-year-old man was cited for a simple assault following an incident in Springfield in April.
On April 9, authorities were notified of an assault on Park Street at around 2:20 a.m.
Following an investigation, it was found that Matthew Hewitt, of Springfield, assaulted Todd Gilchrist, 48, of Springfield.
Troopers were unable to locate Hewitt when they arrived.
Hewitt was located at Southern State Correctional Facility yesterday.
He was issued a criminal citation, and is scheduled to appear in court on July 26 to answer the charge.
