JERICHO — A 29-year-old man was charged with leaving the scene of an accident in Jericho.

On October 21, 2021, authorities say they were notified of a two-vehicle crash that took place on Route 15 and Woodland Drive.

According to the report, one of the operators of the vehicle had fled the scene.

Police say the second driver was traveling east on Route 15 before attempting to turn left onto Woodland Drive.

The first vehicle attempted to overtake the vehicle on the left at a high rate of speed before striking the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Both vehicles traveled off the road.

Police say DNA Evidence was seized from the vehicle at the time of the crash and was submitted to the Vermont Forensic Lab for analysis.

Troopers received confirmation from a Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) that the DNA found on the deployed driver’s side airbag belonged to Larry Sweetser, of Jericho.

Sweetser was issued a criminal citation to appear in court on August 18 to answer to the charge of leaving the scene of an accident.
