DUI charges after driver found sleeping, parked on Route 2 in North Hero

NORTH HERO — A 36-year-old man from Grand Isle was arrested for DUI following an incident in North Hero yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a vehicle parked in the southbound lane of Route 2 at around 2:15 a.m.

Upon arrival, police say they found Preston Ryder sleeping in the driver’s seat of his vehicle.

The vehicle was running and the transmission was in park, police say, stationary in the southbound lane of Route 2.

Troopers woke Ryder and began speaking with him.

During the investigation, police say Ryder displayed indicators of impairment.

He was arrested for DUI and was transported to the St Albans State Police barracks for processing.

He was later released with a citation to appear in court to answer to the charge of DUI and driving with his license suspended.
