DUI #3 charges after head-on collision in Monkton

MONKTON — A 53-year-old man from Ferrisburgh was arrested for his third DUI following a crash in Monkton yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a head-on collision located on Monkton Ridge at around 4:25 p.m.

According to the report, Joseph Knipes was traveling south on Monkton Ridge and crossed into the northbound lane, ultimately colliding head-on with Daniel Moyer, 42, of Berlin.

After the collision, Knipes exited the road and hit a column on the Monkton Friends Methodist Church building.

Police say nobody was injured during the crash.

While speaking with Knipes, police say they detected indicators of impairment.

Knipes was screened and placed under arrest for DUI #3.

He was transported to the Vergennes Police Department for processing.

At the conclusion of processing, Knipes was released to a sober party with a citation to appear in court at a later date.
