SPRINGFIELD — A 29-year-old man is facing charges following an incident in Springfield last month.
On April 1, authorities say they began an investigation into a report of an assault by Inmate Edward Dodge on a correctional officer at Southern State Correctional Facility.
The Vermont Department of Corrections reported that officer Jason C. Hurd, and officer Alden D. Tewksbury, had been assaulted by Edward S. Dodge, of Springfield.
Police allege that Dodge had physically assaulted Hurd and assaulted Tewksbury with bodily fluids.
As a result, Dodge was charged with simple assault on a correctional officer, and assault on a correctional officer with bodily fluids.
He was ordered to appear in court on June 21 to answer the charges.
