MONTPELIER — Zach Charboneau was recently sworn in as the newest member of the Montpelier Police Department.
Charboneau is a recent graduate of the Vermont Police Academy, completing 4.5 months of comprehensive training to become certified as a Level III Full-Time Police Officer.
Charboneau will embark on a multi-month field training program with MPD’s experienced training officers to round out his basic law enforcement education with supervised real-world experience out in the community.
He is a native Vermonter with double degrees from Norwich University in Criminal Justice and Psychology.
He has a variety of work experience in trades and customer service and enjoys many outdoor activities and woodworking in his free time.
“I enjoy the people I’ll be working with the most,” Charboneau said when asked about coming to Montpelier. “It’s a very friendly and welcoming environment within the department. Everyone seems to love what they do, which makes me excited for my own career here.”
Charboneau was sworn in by the Montpelier City Clerk along with Chief Peete and Deputy Chief Nordenson.
