Woman charged with domestic assault, violation of abuse prevention order in Whitingham

WHITINGHAM — A 59-year-old woman was arrested following an incident in Whitingham last month.

On March 5, authorities say they were notified that Sheila Arel, of Whitingham, had assaulted a household member before fleeing the scene.

Police say she was unable to be located at the time of the incident.

Yesterday, police say Arel called the Westminster State Police barracks to report an unrelated incident.

They responded to her location to investigate the complaint and found her to be in violation of an abuse prevention order.

She was arrested for the previous domestic assault and violation of the above order.

She was transported to the Westminster State Police barracks where she was processed and released on a citation to appear in court today.

She faces charges of domestic assault and violation of an abuse prevention order.
