ST. JOHNSBURY — Authorities are investigating the death of an inmate at Northeast Regional Correctional Center.
Police say the inmate has been identified as 29-year-old Dustin Dunkling, of St. Albans.
Dunkling was found unresponsive in his cell at around 10:10 p.m. yesterday.
He was provided with immediate medical attention but later pronounced deceased.
Preliminary investigation indicates Dunkling was alone in his cell and died by suicide.
An autopsy is pending at the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington to confirm the cause and manner of death.
Police say the death is not considered suspicious at this time.
