Tennessee man to face second-degree murder charge in Orleans County

DERBY — A 44-year-old man with ties to Orleans County was arrested today in Tennessee and will be extradited back to Vermont to face charges of second-degree murder.

Detectives say they opened an investigation into the death of Madison Simoneau, formerly Destiny Roberts, which occurred on July 16, 2016, at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Simoneau was 15 years old at the time of her death.

She died as a result of complications of an intentional injury she sustained on or around February 3, 2001, in Derby, when she was just over 1 month old.

Jason Roberts, Madison’s biological father, was previously charged with first-degree aggravated domestic assault as a result of the intentional injuries sustained by Simoneau in February 2001.
