STARKSBORO — A 20-year-old man is facing charges following an incident in Starksboro yesterday.
Police say they were participating in a high visibility traffic safety patrol with a focus on intervening in speeding and aggressive driving on Vermont Route 116 at around 7:00 p.m.
At that time, police say they observed a vehicle traveling 79 miles-per-hour in a posted 50 miles-per-hour zone.
Police initiated a traffic stop and the driver was identified as Brandon Nielsen, of Starksboro.
Following an investigation, police say that Nielsen did not have a valid driver’s license and was impaired by a substance other than alcohol.
He was transported to the Vergennes Police Department for processing.
He was ordered to appear in court on June 27 to answer the charges of operating after suspension or revocation of license and operating under the influence of alcohol or other substance.
