SWANTON — A 33-year-old man from Quebec was involved in a single-vehicle crash in Swanton yesterday.

The crash involved a tractor-trailer truck hauling silage on Maquam Shore Road at around 1:35 p.m.

Police say the driver, identified as Jeff Boutin, went off the west side of the road and made contact with a utility pole and large tree.

The utility pole was broken into several pieces as a result of the crash.

Power outages were reported at several residents in the area along with interruptions to cable and phone service, police say.

The trailer sustained significant contact damage to the side and one of the axles.

Swanton Electric responded to replace the broken utility pole and restore electric service to the area.

Boutin was not injured during the crash.
