Waterbury woman charged with attempting to disarm officer during struggle

WATERBURY — A 28-year-old woman was arrested following an incident in Waterbury on Saturday.

Authorities say they were notified of a verbal argument at a home on North Main Street at around 8:50 p.m.

Arriving troopers said that suspected heroin was located in plain view when they arrived.

When the drugs were seized, Angella Ly is alleged to have gone after the trooper in an attempt to get the drugs back.

Police say during the struggle, Ly grabbed the trooper’s gun, which was still holstered.

Ly was taken into custody and later released with a citation.

She is scheduled to appear in court on May 12 for the charges of possession of heroin, attempt to disarm a law enforcement officer.
