Man arrested for domestic assault in Derby

DERBY — A 34-year-old man was arrested following an incident in Derby yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a domestic assault in a vehicle on Nelson Hill Road at around 5:45 p.m.

Police responded to the area and located the vehicle.

Police allege that Nathaniel Chaffee, of Derby, had caused pain and injury to a household member and restrained them inside the vehicle.

Chaffee was taken into custody and transported to the Vermont State Police Derby barracks for processing.

He faces charges of 1st degree aggravated domestic assault and unlawful restraint.

He was lodged at Northern State Correctional Facility and was scheduled to be arraigned in court today.
