Essex police K9 Nova helps locate elderly man

ESSEX — Police say they located an elderly man who went missing yesterday in Essex with the help of K9 Nova.

Authorities were notified of a missing man with Parkinson’s disease at around 5:30 p.m.

Police were alerted that the man was not dressed for the cold weather.

K9 Nova from the Essex Police Department conducted a track for the man which led them to Pearl Street, near gate B of the Fairgrounds.

The man was then located on the ground in the parking lot of KFC on Pearl Street.

He was evaluated on scene and transported to the UVM Medical Center for treatment of hypothermia.

The Essex Police Department says they would like to thank the Vermont State Police and St. Michael’s Rescue for their assistance during this incident.
