Woman cited for leaving the scene of an accident in Fair Haven

FAIR HAVEN — A 32-year-old woman from New York was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident in Fair Haven.

On February 20, authorities say they were notified of a single-vehicle crash on Main Street at around 7:20 a.m.

The caller told police that the driver had left the scene.

The vehicle crashed onto the front lawn of the Fair Haven Free Library causing damage to road signs and shrubs.

Following an investigation, police allege that Stephanie A. Downing, of Whitehall, NY, was the driver during the incident.

She was issued a citation to appear in court to answer the charge.
