MONTPELIER — Police in Montpelier are welcoming a new officer to the department.
The Montpelier Police Department recently announced Alesha Donovan has graduated from the Vermont Police Academy.
After 18 long weeks of comprehensive training to become certified as a Level III Full-Time Police Officer, Donovan will now embark on an extensive 3-month field training program with MPD’s experienced training officers.
This will round out her basic law enforcement education with supervised real-world experience out in the community.
Police say Donovan’s background in mental health and juvenile behavioral intervention provides a solid base for much of the work she will engage in.
“We are very lucky to have her as a kind, intelligent, empathetic, and motivated member of our team,” the department said in a statement.
