DUI crash with injuries on Vermont Route 105, Newport

NEWPORT — A 39-year-old man was arrested for DUI following a crash with injuries in Newport yesterday.

The single-vehicle crash took place on Vermont Route 105 at around 10:25 p.m.

The vehicle was located down an embankment in contact with several trees.

The driver was identified as David Dority, of Newport.

According to the report, the vehicle was headed east when Dority lost control, and left the road to the south, traveling down an embankment and impacting several trees and a boulder.

The vehicle also hit a parked snowmobile.

Both passengers were treated for injuries and transported to North Country Hospital.

Dority did not complain of injury but displayed indicators of impairment, police say.

Following a roadside investigation, Doherty was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and processed at the VSP Derby barracks.

Upon completion of processing, he was released with a citation to appear in court.
