NEWPORT CENTER — A 33-year-old man from Irasburgh was arrested on multiple charges following an incident in Newport Center yesterday.
Police say they pulled over a truck that was clocked traveling 83 miles-per-hour in a posted 50 miles-per-hour zone on Vermont Route 100.
The driver of the truck was identified as Michael Durocher.
Police say Durocher’s license to operate a motor vehicle was found to be criminally suspended and he also showed indicators of impairment.
Following an investigation, Durocher was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.
Police later learned he had active court-ordered conditions of release not to operate a motor vehicle with alcohol in his system.
Durocher was transported to and processed at the Derby barracks where he was later released with a citation to answer the charges of DUI #2, DLS, violation conditions of release, and excessive speed.
