CHARLESTON — Two local teens were killed in a head-on collision in Charleston last night, and another local woman was seriously injured.

Police say Katelyn Deslandes, 23, of Island Pond, was headed west when she struck a second vehicle headed east on Vermont Route 105.

The crash took place at around 8:45 p.m.

Deslandes was seriously injured and transported to North Country Hospital, where she was later flown via helicopter to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Police say an 18-year-old in the second vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene, and another was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

One of the teens was from Charleston and the other from Lunenburg, police say.

The roadway in the area was closed for nearly 4 hours, and police today say they are still investigating the crash.
