WILLIAMSTOWN — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in Williamstown on Thursday.

The crash took place on South Hill Road, near the Chelsea line, at around 10:30 p.m.

Police say a vehicle driven by Max Quayle, 52, of Chelsea, had gone off the road and was then pulled out of the ditch by a vehicle driven by Joshua Orsinger, 44, of Chelsea.

While being pulled out of the ditch, Quayle’s vehicle collided with Orsinger’s vehicle, causing minor damage to both vehicles.

Police say Quayle fled into the woods after Orsinger told him he was calling the police.

A K9 was later deployed and Quayle was located in the woods.

While speaking with Quayle, police say they detected indicators of impairment.

Quayle was screened and placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

Quayle was transported to the Barre City Police Department for processing and held for detoxing with a citation to appear in court at a later date.
