Burlington man with long criminal history arrested for burglary

BURLINGTON — A 38-year-old man was arrested for a burglary that occurred in Burlington on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Mill Street, where police learned someone was actively breaking into a business at around 9:35 p.m.

A caller told police that they observed on their security cameras a person inside the business.

Police arrived on the scene, set up a perimeter, and entered the building to search for the person seen on security cameras.

Police located a man exiting one of the offices on the second floor and detained him.

The man was identified as Steven Leclair, of Burlington.

He was found in possession of several items including electronics.

Leclair was taken into custody and transported to the Burlington Police Department.

He was lodged on $1,500 bail and transported to Northwest Correctional Facility.

Leclair is known to law enforcement from previous encounters.

His criminal history revealed 1 failure to appear for court proceedings, 9 felony charges with 6 convictions, 13 misdemeanor charges with 9 convictions, 1 escape charge, and 1 violation of probation charge.

Leclair has 4 convictions for burglary and 1 conviction for stolen property.
