Teen seriously injured in Montpelier crash, driver charged with DUI

EAST MONTPELIER — A 47-year-old man from Marshfield was arrested for DUI following a crash that resulted in serious injury in East Montpelier yesterday.

The two-vehicle crash took place on US Route 2 at around 6:50 p.m.

The drivers were identified as Ulisses Ferreira, 47, of Marshfield, and 18-year-old Garret Franks, also from Marshfield.

Both were transported to Central Vermont Hospital.

Franks was listed in critical condition and transported to UVM Medical Center to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

Following an investigation, police say that Ferreira was under the influence of intoxicants.

He was processed for DUI at Central Vermont Hospital.

He was issued a citation to appear in court on February 24 and released into the care of the hospital.

Police are still investigating this incident.
