MONTPELIER — Two people from Marshfield were arrested following an incident in Montpelier on Monday.

Police say they were on regular patrol and initiated a traffic stop on Berlin Street and Hill Street at around 11:50 p.m.

It was found that the driver’s privilege to drive a motor vehicle was criminally suspended.

Police say a 22-year-old woman in the vehicle was found to have several warrants for arrest for failing to appear in court for previous criminal offenses and was taken into custody.

Indicators of illicit drug use were present in plain view within the vehicle, police say, and a K9 assist from the Barre Police Department was requested.

The K9 alerted the vehicle and a consent search was conducted, resulting in the location of various drug-related packaging and paraphernalia.

Following an investigation, police say probable cause that the driver, a 28-year-old man from Marshfield, had committed the crime of driving with a criminally suspended and was arrested.

Police have not released the names of those arrested at the scene.
