Police: Employee at 7-Eleven in Fairlee charged with embezzlement

FAIRLEE — A 31-year-old woman was charged with embezzlement following an incident in Fairlee yesterday.

Police say the manager of the Fairlee 7-Eleven called State Police to report an employee had been cashing out gift cards to herself without paying for them.

The manager told police that the employee had been taking the gift cards over the course of 9 days.

The employee was identified as Kelly Vines, of Fairlee.

The manager provided video footage of the cashier area and a printout of the cash register purchase history to the police.

Following an investigation, police found an approximate value to be $1,690 in Sephora, Amazon, EBAY, and Apple gift cards were taken by Vines.

Vines was charged with embezzlement and is scheduled to appear in court in March.
