SHAFTSBURY — A 33-year-old man from Massachusetts was arrested for DUI following a crash in Shaftsbury on Sunday.

Authorities say they were notified of a crash in the area of Ledgely Drive and Vermont Route 7A at around 1:45 a.m.

Two damaged vehicles were seen parked along the southbound lane of Route 7A.

According to the report, one of those vehicles was a 2017 Dodge Ram, driven by Joshua J. Ritcher, of North Adams, MA.

Police say they found that Ritcher had hit a vehicle that was parked along the road as he was headed south.

During the investigation, police say that they believed Ritcher may have been impaired and conducted Field Sobriety Exercises.

During the investigation, Ritcher showed signs of impairment and was placed into custody for DUI, police say.

Ritcher’s preliminary roadside breath test was almost double the legal limit.

He was later released with a citation to appear in court to answer the charge.
