U-turn the cause of two-vehicle crash on I-89, Waterbury

WATERBURY — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in Waterbury yesterday.

The crash took place on Interstate 89 at around 8:35 a.m.

According to the report, a 2022 Cadillac, driven by Jean Smith, 50, of Montpelier, was headed north before making a u-turn.

Upon turning into the southbound lane, Smith drove into the path of a 2019 Subaru, driven by David LaFontaine, 43, of Burlington.

Police say the front of the Subaru collided with the rear of the Cadillac.

The Cadillac then hit a guardrail.

Police say all occupants of both vehicles were wearing seat belts and no injuries were reported.

Smith was ticketed for the violation.
