Burlington woman arrested for shoplifting in a stolen vehicle in Fair Haven

RUTLAND — A 35-year-old woman was arrested for larceny following an investigation that was opened in Rutland last month.

On December 21, authorities were notified of shoplifting at Durfee’s Store at around 6:40 p.m.

According to the report, a woman had fled the scene with two pairs of shoes.

The caller told police that he watched the woman attempt to unlock a vehicle before dropping the keys and fleeing on foot.

Following an investigation, the woman was identified as Valerie H. Sullivan.

Police say that the vehicle she attempted to enter had been reported stolen in Rutland.

Police were able to determine Sullivan was allegedly in possession of the stolen vehicle.

South Burlington police assisted in issuing Sullivan a citation to appear in court.

She was arrested and issued a citation to appear in court to answer the charge.

Sullivan is currently being held at the Chittenden Correctional Center in South Burlington on unrelated charges.
