VERGENNES — The Vergennes Police Department and the city of Vergennes Fire Department were awarded new emergency communication radios and equipment.
The grant totaled $54,254 that will go towards the new equipment.
The award came through the State of Vermont Homeland Security Unit.
This grant is also a no match, 100 percent grant, which means the city does not have to lay out any funding towards the purchase of this equipment.
The city says the equipment is an important part of its emergency response plan.
