Single-vehicle crash knocks out power in Newport Center

NEWPORT CENTER — A 29-year-old man from Glover was involved in a single-vehicle crash in Newport Center early this morning.

The crash took place at the intersection of Lake Road and Vance Hill Road at around 1:05 a.m.

According to the report, Lorne Beauregard was headed east on Vance Hill Road when he attempted to stop on an icy patch of road.

Beauregard was unable to stop and slid into a utility pole, causing the pole to snap and a power outage in the area.

Vermont Electric Coop and Rays Towing were dispatched to assist.
